Reclaiming



Salam Alaikum.

Wow. So my trip to the UAE was phenomenal and truly life changing. How could you not be changed by such an experience. And it feels so right. I was looking for inspiration and feeling on the brink of something new. It found me and I was ready.

The conference its self was amazing, just to be around the calibre of speakers and student delegates was really a blessing. Speakers included the likes of: Muhammad Yunnus '06 Nobel Peace Prize, Nicholas Negroponte- formed a fantastic nonprofit called 'One Laptop Per Child' (laptops made for $100 for children in developing nations!!), ridiculously rich people like Laksmi Mittal- who if I remember correctly is like 6th richest man in the world.... and so many other people who actually shape this world we live in. Incredible.

Being around the other students who are doing something to change the world was inspiring. Young people my own age, forming organisations so that african artists can sell their goods in America... http://enjuba.com/welcome.html such a simple fabulous idea, so why arent more young people doing it eh?! Becoming tight with my magazine/media girls from QUT was a beautiful surprise for me and being able to get to know the local UAE girls was incredibly special. They are friends we will have forever now, half way across the world in a modern oasis. It is very cool.

So I am brimming with productive energy now. Uni has kicked off well. Havent been left behind yet- knock on wood- and I've joined a few groups to keep the inspiration flowing.
